Picasso painting makes 10.6 million € at auction in London

The 1949 Picasso oil painting, ‘Seated Woman’ has been auctioned at Christies in London for 8.5 million pounds, 10.6 million €, far above the expected price. The work was one of the most sought-after lots at the auction of impressionist and moderate art, which also saw paintings from Renoir,Signac and Gauguin. A second Picasso, ‘Woman with dog’ from 1962 also did well and fetched 6.9 million pounds, or 8.6 million €. However the auction’s star exhibit, ‘Bathing Woman’, by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, worth an estimated 18 – 29 million dollars failed to find a buyer.
